The Mutant Problem

Based on Norman Rockwell’s iconic painting “The Problem We All Live With”. Even as a kid, what stood out about the X-Men for me was its primary theme of how people who are different are viewed and treated by society. Whether it’s race, religion, class, gender, nationality, sexual orientation, choice of clothing, choice of adornment, choice of habits or weight, there’s a constant fixation on the arbitrary concept of the norm and humanity has a long, sad history of showing its darker colors when regarding anything that diverges from it.

We are all different in certain ways and very much the same in others but never should the former result in bigotry, violence or oppression for it divides us all in the process.
